Dear Friends,
Welcome to the preaching plan for the Peak Methodist Circuit, which leads us into the season of Lent, through to the emotional roller coaster of Holy Week, after which we arrive at the glorious Easter morn. Thereafter we ready ourselves for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost which we will celebrate during the following plan.
Sifting through paperwork recently, I found a scribbled note. I must have been keen to subscribe the words to paper, as my writing is even more illegible than usual. I had heard someone say or read that
“the heart of the Christian life is to worship and to witness”
“that our invitation is not to church but an invitation to Jesus.”
Are you a person of faith regularly attending worship, a person searching for a deeper meaning of life, someone possibly sharing in the celebrations of Eastertide, or maybe there is another reason why you find yourself reading this letter? For whatever reason you find yourself reading this letter, which is hopefully not just legible but also meaningful, my prayer is that you might accept the invitation to come into the presence of Jesus.
We journey through Lent to examine our lives, to intentionally draw closer to Jesus. And, through the work of his Holy Spirit, we can safely arrive at Easter Sunday, and know that our reflections about Jesus’ story, help you make sense of our own story.
We worship to encounter Jesus and be changed by him; to be known by him, and know that we are loved by him; to share such love with others.
May all the times of worship that this plan holds ahead of you, enable all of that and more, and be a blessing to you and God himself, Perfect Parent, Jesus Saviour and brother, Holy Spirit our guide.
