There is a 250-year history of Methodists in the beautiful Peak Park. Our circuit is made up of 15 churches, situated between Youlgrave in the south, up to Edale in the north. We are an inclusive church and offer something for everyone.
Love the outdoors – visit The Hub at Hope, where we do church outside, we ride hike and bike in God's creation. We walk, cycle worship God and eat breakfast and cake.
Looking for a holiday, visit The Peak Wesley Way and we are preparing the chapel at Edale as a place of retreat.
Try our Messy Church or Godly play sessions with your children/grandchildren or our Seedlings & Groudbreakers group or Story Keepers sessions.
We are passionate about climate action to preserve this amazing planet and reverse some of the damage caused already. We are proud to have achieved a Silver ECO Church award at Hathersage where we also hold a Repair CafĂ© – you can have items from textiles, to small electricals and furniture repaired plus a good cuppa – and the Coat of Hopes recently travelled through our area as part of our commitment to tackle climate change.
Our churches include:
A bit of history ...
John Wesley, along with his brother Charles, began the Methodist Movement which evolved into the Methodist Church. John believed there should be some structure in the life of the Church, hence the name 'Methodist'.
John Wesley strongly believed that: 'All can be saved, all need to be saved, all can know they are saved, and all can be saved to the uttermost'
And he encouraged:
'Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.'
And this is what we strive to do in the Peak Methodist Circuit.
Our brand-new website will be up and running by the Autumn so please visit us again soon or follow our churches on facebook.
