Hush the Noise: Join the love song this Christmas

The Peak Wesley Way and Edale Chapel in the Peak Circuit were chosen as the setting by the President and Vice-President of Conference to record their Christmas message entitled Hush the Noise: Join the love song this Christmas.

Hush the Noise is the Methodist Church's Advent and Christmas campaign for 2024. Inspired by the carol "It came upon the midnight clear", it encourages people to cut out the distracting noise and pressures that surround us so we can hear the voice of God at this time of year.

Christmas is loud, isn't it? So much expectation. So many voices. Telling us how to celebrate, what to wear, what to eat and drink, what to watch and what to buy.

Instead, this Christmas we're inviting everyone to hush the noise. To listen for the love song that the angels bring, this and every year. They sang it for the first time more than 2,000 years ago, on the midnight clear. They're just waiting for us to join in.

There is special page on the Methodist Church website throughout Advent, over Christmas and up to Epiphany, where you'll be able to watch a Christmas film, and sign up for daily Christmas reflections: Advent & Christmas Campaign 2024. Find information about the campaign and how to get involved on this page: Advent & Christmas resources, and resources for worship here: Advent & Christmas Worship. There is also a social media campaign that engages unaffiliated people online: The Methodist Church Facebook
