Message from Rev Tim Morris

Dear friends,

I'm grateful for the opportunity to introduce myself as I come to take up the role of Superintendent Minister of the Peak Methodist Circuit. I look forward to ministering across the whole of the Circuit, and assure you of my time, commitment and prayers for all the churches in the Circuit.

I'm also looking forward to working with supernumerary colleagues and lay folk; preachers, office holders, members and friends of the church, as well as those in the wider community, in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Originally from Hampshire, I've lived and ministered in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. During the whole of my ministry, I've been faithfully supported by my wife Alison. We also have two adult sons, Samuel and Jacob.

People and places are very important to me. I'm privileged to be able to share in people's stories – joining in their journey, supporting them in times of joy and sorrow. I also enjoy the history, space and memory of places – whether that be church, or chapel; market place, or village hall; hill, vale, moor, mountain, or the back garden! Places hold special connections for us.

I'm looking forward to sharing in people's journey and being in those special places, though I need to get a bit more active before I tackle the hills and mountains part. It's a bit flat in the Vale of Belvoir where we have just moved from!

As a family, we are glad to be back in the Peak District. I studied at Cliff College more years ago than I care to remember and as a family we lived in Ashbourne for 15 years, so we are familiar with some of the area. We also have family in the Staffordshire Moorlands, so it will be good to be nearer to them to offer support and be supported.

It's good to be here among you, and I trust that our journey together over the next few years with people and places will prove to be a fruitful and hope-filled time for us all. May we know the love of God, the friendship of Christ and the equipping of the Spirit.

Your minister and friend,

Tim Morris (Rev)
