To celebrate harvest time in the Peak Circuit we re-introduced the idea of a travelling harvest collecting the offerings from chapels and songs and prayers where shared inside and outside the churches.
On Sunday 29th September, two teams led by Revd. Fran Johnson and Revd. Julie Letts visited the chapels in the circuit. Fran’s team visited Youlgrave, Bakewell, Fountains Square Tideswell, Litton, Great Longstone, Calver and Baslow. Julie’s team visited Hathersage, Bamford, Bradwell & St Barnabas, Hope & St Peter’s, Castleton, Sparrowpit and Edale.
People brought offerings of tinned goods, cereals, pasta, rice, toiletries, baby supplies and tea, coffee, sugar. All items where donated to the High Peak Foodbank.
Both teams then met at Edale with all the harvest offerings for a circuit service led by Gill Newton, District Chair.
Rev. Julie Letts said: “A few years ago we held two Travelling Harvests across the Circuit and we wanted to re-introduce it but to bring everyone together at the end for a celebration service.
“It was wonderful we could celebrate harvest and the life of the circuit in this way and to look to a fruitful future.
“We donated all items collected to the High Peak Foodbank who support our local communities.”
