Christian Healing in Bakewell

christian healing in bakewell

About ten years ago the Methodist Church in Bakewell, on the first Monday of each month, opened its doors for anyone who wished to do so, to come and receive prayers for healing. This was a first step taken in the belief that this ministry would grow.

Two years ago in conversation with people in the Circuit and friends in the Anglican church it was realized that there was sufficient people in the area interested in the Healing Ministry to form a team. Within the team there was a unity of awareness that God’s will was for this ministry to be on the street.

Training sessions and times of prayer were arranged for the team members. The training was led by the Rev. Canon Nick Read who, with his wife Kathryn, had many years of experience in Healing on the Street.

The team arranged for this ministry to take place on the first Sunday of each month in the centre of Bakewell, beginning on Sunday 5th. November. Unknown to the team this date coincided with the visit of the Secretary of Conference the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Hustler to Bakewell Methodist Church.

Prayers were said in the church service for the ministry taking place in the town, and after the Service the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Hustler visited the team on the street.

During the three hours of ministry on the street a number of people accepted the offer to receive prayer for healing, and were blessed as God worked in their lives. There was also the opportunity to talk with passers-by, locals and visitors, about faith and healing.

All members of the team felt encouraged and blessed to have the privilege of meeting people and offering to them the healing love of Jesus.
